It’s a nice May for a white wedding

There may be trouble ahead on the weather front , the economy may have faltered into a double dip recession, but when the going gets tough, the Brits get married! Figures from the ONS have shown that marriage has increased by 3.7 percent in England and Wales, which,of course is welcome news for everyone involved in the UK wedding industry. So no matter what the elements fling at us over the next couple of weeks, and the rosy glow of romance aside, couples up and down the land can have the warm feeling of satisfaction that they are doing their bit for all those small businesses tasked with getting us back on our feet! UK wedding show 2012 review

A small spark of insanity must be needed to be wallpapering a 3x2m stand in a dimly lit  Arena on a rather cold Friday night in January. I will accept that; because wedding fayre season is upon us again, and I just love it! Of course the Metro gremlins were on the prowl; a last minute socket installation, spotlights on the blink, and a TV with a mind of its own. The North East future millionaires?

Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to be a guest speaker on the subject of social media in business, at the Big Ideas youth challenge at Beamish Hall, a venue which is well known to those of us in the wedding business. As I walk into the hall at 9am, I am greeted by 10-13 year olds who, as I had suspected, look like they have just been prised from their beds. I am asked by Janice Marsh ,the project coordinator , to sign an NDA for the 4 finalists’ ideas. Before my presentation, I go round each of the teams competing and enquire about their ideas. Absolute Media North East Welcomes a new face.

Hi everyone, this is Kathryn, the new Media Assistant here at Absolute Media North East. I started with the company back in december and have completed my 6 month internship.  I have now been with the business officially since the beginning of May and I’m having a great time so far. As part of my first project I spend two days with the learners from Project Choice Sunderland, filming them at their work placements and interviewing them for their CV’s. Working with Project Choice and getting to meet and interact with the learners was a wonderful experience for me and a great help when it came to editing their Video CV’s. New friends, New fayres, New ideas, New Office, New Staff

Hi everybody. So it been a hectic last 6 weeks completing 5 weddings and starting some interesting corporate work. We attended a unique wedding fayre at Wendy Coles Bridal shop. We particularly liked this as there were only a small number of suppliers present we created a little video which you can go to the link below. Ok so its been a while since i last did a blog. Had great time at UK wedding show meeting hundreds and Hundreds of brides to be.
